Sony and Western Digital have released the first licensed SSD for the PlayStation 5

Western Digital and Sony have released the first officially licensed PlayStation 5 SSD, the SN850 NVMe. This SSD with different PlayStation logos on the device itself is designed to be compatible with the PlayStation 5. They come in two sizes: 1TB and 2TB. The 1TB version of the SN850 will cost you around $169.99, while the 2TB version will cost $279.99.

The new SN850 has been optimized for PS5. Western Digital has tested the performance for several scenarios to make sure it works at the PS5 level. The testing process included hundreds of hours of rigorous testing of the most graphically intense games across a variety of genres to ensure that the final gameplay experience is fast, fluid, and visually exciting with games stored on disk.

With the WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD for PS5, gamers can store and play PS5 games directly from the drive. The SSD has a heatsink that speeds up installation with its all-in-one design. In addition, gamers can reduce load times with PCIe Gen4 technology, reaching read speeds up to 7000MB/s.
