Youssef Fares would live on the street if A Way Out failed

In a recent podcast, notorious director, screenwriter and game designer Youssef Fares talked about the hardships of developing his second full-fledged project – the co-op 2-player action movie A Way Out. According to him, if the game “didn’t shoot” in retail, he would have to sell his stake in the company and cuckoo on the street.

At one point, I was so desperate that I wanted to sell my stake in the company. The potential buyer, by the way, refused and now probably regrets it. It was natural chaos. I still remember the meeting with the accountant, when he told me that the company was in big trouble. If the game doesn’t make money after release, I’ll be on the street with all my debts. But I found a way.

As of January 2021, A Way Out has sold 3.5 million copies. Well, now the name of the project is perceived as damn symbolic. Well, we, thanks to the success of the game, received from Fares the wonderful It Takes Two, which further consolidated the success of the developer.
