YouTuber Johnny Freeze posted an interesting video comparing Balrog from Peter Jackson’s legendary film trilogy The Lord of the Rings and Balrog from the upcoming Amazon series The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power.
Most users agreed that the 2001 version looks much more photorealistic and spectacular than the Amazon version, which reminded many of a simply rendered cutscene from a video game.
Also, users were surprised at how good the Balrog looks 20 years after the release of the Fellowship of the Ring in 2001. In Tolkien’s Legendarium, the Balrogs served as the bodyguards and generals of Melkor.
