At the end of the year, a corresponding research center will open in Japan.
According to published data, by the end of this year, a research center will be launched in Japan, in which the joint efforts of US and Japanese specialists will develop a 2-nm process technology. It is noted that thanks to this project, countries will be able to build stable supply chains for semiconductors and insure themselves against tensions around Taiwan.
It is assumed that specialists will develop and debug the production of 2-nm chips, and the pipeline for their production will be set up by 2025. It is noted that the center will be located on the basis of a research institute, the construction of which will also be completed before the end of 2022.
Recall that now about 90% of the world’s production of chips using technology less than 10 nm is concentrated in Taiwan. However, it so happened that Beijing does not leave hopes to annex the island to China, which does not suit the United States. It is expected that new chip manufacturing technologies that will be developed at the new research center will subsequently be transferred to technologically advanced countries that share the values of North America.
