    UK retail chart: Modern Warfare 2 debuts at the top, Bayonetta 3 starts third



    Gfk has released the latest weekly UK physical software sales data and several new releases have debuted on the charts this week. Unsurprisingly, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which launched globally last week, topped the list. GamesIndustry’s Christopher Dring tweeted that this is the series’ biggest UK launch since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s 2019 release – though that’s just physical sales, and with digital sales, the shooter’s launch is likely to be significantly higher.

    In third place is Bayonetta 3, the highly anticipated action sequel from PlatinumGames and Nintendo. According to Dring, the game’s physical sales at launch in the UK are “marginally” better than Bayonetta 2, which launched on the Wii U in 2014, although once again digital sales are likely to be much higher.

    Meanwhile, Gotham Knights and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, who debuted high on the charts last week, dropped to #5 and #7 respectively, while FIFA 23 dropped to #3. The top 10 also continues to feature games such as Horizon Forbidden West, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 3.
