UK antitrust regulator postpones final decision on Microsoft deal from July 18 to August 29

Although the American court has already expressed its opinion on the plans of the Redmond giant, the US Federal Trade Commission announced an appeal. Despite promising reports and hard work by Microsoft’s lawyers to reach an agreement with the UK Competition and Markets Authority, the agency has just made a surprising announcement.

Representatives of the CMA stated that they did not have enough time to carefully analyze the new proposals from Microsoft, so they decided to extend the period for reviewing new case materials. A final decision will be made by August 29, although the UK Competition and Markets Authority hopes that a statement will be made sooner.

It is worth noting that, despite waiting for the decision of the Competition and Markets Authority, Microsoft and Activision Blizzard may close the deal before a verdict is issued.
