The trailer for another adaptation of Wells’ War of the Worlds has been released. British. Subtitled “Attack”. Why this is all – it is clear, of course, not very much. More precisely – it is not clear at all. However, it is beautiful in places.
In the center is a racially and gender-balanced trio of members of the astronomy circle trying to survive in the midst of a Martian invasion.
The director and screenwriter is Junaid Syed, who previously worked on special effects on a couple of dozen blockbusters, including Interstellar. This is his debut as a feature director. Cast: Sam Gittins, Vincent Regan, Lara Lemon, Leo Star, Chris Saddler.
Release – 21 April.
The War of the Worlds was first published in 1897, and has since gone through a staggering number of adaptations. Not to mention homages, parodies, borrowings and other forms of prostitution.
