The number of employees of id Software exceeded 300 people, as it became known from the company’s page on LinkedIn. In addition, the company is working on at least one new, not yet announced project, which should follow Doom Eternal.
More specifically, id Software currently has 302 employees and is looking to hire new ones to expand its staff.
Founded by John Carmack, John Romero, Adrian Carmack, and Tom Hall, id Software established a canonical first-person shooter genre in the early 1990s with Wolfenstein 3D and Doom, which it never abandoned and is considered a master of.
It is difficult to say which project is in development at the company. Many believe that a new Quake is on the way, given also the rumors about a remaster of the second part. It is also possible that a sequel to Doom Eternal is being prepared, given its success and numerous accolades. More difficult is the revival of the Rage series, the work on the second chapter of which was entrusted to an outside studio.
In short, there are several options on the agenda, and perhaps we’ll find out more at the next QuakeCon, which John Carmack will attend, seemingly reconciled with his former company.
