The first developer video for Rollerdrome is dedicated to flow and level design

Roll7 has released its first development video for Rollerdrome, an upcoming third-person shooter that combines stylish rollerblading with stylish gunplay. Studio Creative Director John Ribbins and Senior 3D Level Designer Jacob Mills talk about the game’s overall flow and level design.

Rollerdrome is “a skating game where you don’t just skate” and “a shooting game where you don’t just shoot.” Basically, players skate and shoot at a variety of enemies, from normal humans to mechanical walkers firing explosives. Performing tricks replenishes your ammo and killing enemies replenishes your health.

In terms of level design, it was about no dead ends or corners where the player could get stuck. All in all, Roll7 wants to give players free rein to see what creativity and flair they can come up with.

Rollerdrome releases August 16 for PS4, PS5 and PC. It will retail for $19.79 on Steam and for PlayStation Plus subscribers at launch (presumably for a limited time). All other PS4 and PS5 owners can purchase it for $29.99. Additionally, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will be able to play a trial version at launch.
