The DC Cinematic Universe will be replenished with a new young superhero – the action movie “Blue Beetle” is preparing for the premiere this summer. According to ComicBook, the comic book will run for 2 hours and 7 minutes.
In the center of the plot will be a teenager Jaime Reyes, in whose hands is a mysterious scarab that gives the hero superpowers. According to James Gunn on Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast, Heim will be the first DCU character while Superman will remain the first movie, implying a reboot of the MCU with Superman: Legacy as its starting point. Apparently, the Blue Beetle will appear in other projects of the updated DCU.
In terms of running time, the action movie will be one of the longest films in the MCU. It is second only to The Flash (2 hours 24 minutes) and Shazam: Wrath of the Gods (2 hours 10 minutes). Birds of Prey: The Fabulous Story of Harley Quinn remains the shortest film in the series at 1 hour 49 minutes.
Blue Beetle is set to premiere on August 18, 2023.
