The creators of Star Wars Outlaws told what is the difference between Kay Vess and Han Solo

Han Solo is a rogue, highwayman, smuggler, and bully. But in the chest of the adventurous villain beats a big heart, which leads him to become the hero of the Rebellion. In his life there were many adventures and misadventures: legal troubles, love affairs, gambling and chasing around the galaxy. Kay Vess, the heroine of Star Wars Outlaws, looks in the mirror, and there is the silhouette of Solo, but hidden under a different guise, because in fact we see a character unique in nature.

The fact that Han Solo was one of the sources of inspiration for the creation of Kay Vess is recognized by Massive Entertainment itself. In an interview with EDGE magazine, creative director Julian Gerighty, discussing this topic, emphasized that Kay is not a simple embodiment of the character archetype, which was once played by Harrison Ford.

“When you think of villains, Han Solo, Lando, Indiana Jones, James Bond and Captain Jack Sparrow come to mind,” he explained. “Growing up, I really liked the original movie trilogy. I liked Han Solo and Chewbacca much more than anyone else.” But Kay differs from these characters precisely in that she is just a rookie, a bully, “got herself in a situation that exceeded all her expectations.”

There is one more thing in common with Han Solo – Kay has the same relationship as a smuggler with Chewie – a faithful furry comrade who is not a pet, but a friend, companion and ally. Nyx, on the other hand, is a merqaal species and is quite small, making it invisible. In terms of gameplay, here Ubisoft introduces mechanics that give us the ability to launch mechanisms, misleading or attacking enemies.

Star Wars Outlaws will take players to the underworld, where there is a battle between various crime syndicates, which takes place during the era of the Galactic Empire. The game is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. The release is planned for 2024, although a more specific release date has not yet been announced.
