In one of the episodes of the third season of the series The Witcher, Geralt of Rivia and his friends were shown fighting Rience’s mercenaries in the ruined elven castle of Shaerrawedd. After the premiere of the episode, the show’s stunt coordinator Wolfgang Stegemann presented a footage of actor Henry Cavill rehearsing a fight.
The staging of the duel took several weeks from the authors of The Witcher series. At first, Cavill and the stunt troupe rehearsed the fight in the gym, where they played it about 90 times. Only after that they could go to the set and show all the movements honed to the smallest detail.
As Stegemann said, in the end, the authors of The Witcher series managed to rehearse several options for the battle. Throughout this time, Cavill was actively involved in the production of the scene – helping to come up with elements of battles and working with stuntmen.
On June 29, 2023, the first half of the third season of The Witcher was released on Netflix, consisting of five episodes. The final three episodes will hit the streaming service on July 27, 2023.
The third season of The Witcher will be Henry Cavill’s last. Starting from the fourth actor will replace Liam Hemsworth, who is known for the movie “The Hunger Games”.
