Teaser trailer for a remake of the classic quest Colossal Cave – Reimagined by Roberta Williams

Colossal Cave – Reimagined by Roberta Williams is the new title of Colossal Cave 3D, a remake of a historical text adventure that has made video game history. Scheduled this year for PC, Meta Quest 2 and Mac, it’s sure to interest fans of video game history given the names associated with it.

To celebrate the occasion, a new trailer has been released showcasing the Meta Quest 2 version. Let’s take a look:

For those who don’t know them, Ken and Roberta Williams are the founders of Sierra, a historic label best known for their graphic adventures, including those written by Williams herself (King’s Quest series, Phantasmagoria, Black Cauldron).

For Roberta Williams, Colossal Cave is a special name, because it is thanks to her that she wanted to write her own video games, to which she subsequently attracted her husband Ken. So this project is kind of a return to the roots, a tribute not only to the history of video games, but also to her own personal history.

The original adventure dates back to 1975 and was designed by Will Crowther and Don Woods. Then, as now, the player must explore a large cavern in search of treasure while apparently avoiding death.
