Cameron Monaghan played Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis for the first time in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Set five years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, the game follows Kestis as he is targeted by the Empire and hunted by Imperial Inquisitors as he tries to complete his training, come to terms with his troubled past, and rebuild the fallen Jedi order. The project was a great success, and a sequel was officially announced earlier this year. Given that Cal’s in-game character model looks identical to Cameron Monaghan, there were rumors that the actor could play the part in live action as well.
During a conversation with Screen Rant, Cameron Monaghan confirmed that there is interest in bringing Cal Kestis into the Star Wars universe. It’s still too early to tell where Cal’s adventures will lead, but with all the Star Wars projects in the pipeline, there are plenty of places the young Padawan could go. Perhaps the second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi? Or, if he lives long enough, maybe even meet up with Luke Skywalker to help build the Jedi Academy?
Well, of course there is interest. That’s all I can say.
In the sequel Fallen Order Cal Kestis begins to feel the weight of being one of the last remaining Jedi in the galaxy, as he must be one step ahead of the Empire’s constant persecution. Accompanied by his faithful companion BD-1, Cal will meet and team up with many unique and interesting characters on his journey. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is being developed for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC and will release in 2023. Would you like to see Cal Kestis make the jump to film or TV?
