Sega announces financial results: sales up

Sega announced financial results: year-over-year sales growth and profit decline; growth expected for the full year on both indicators

Sega today released its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023, covering the period April to June 2022.

We learned that the entire company’s sales were 150 billion yen, up from last year, and the operating income was 9.5 billion yen, down from last year.

Looking at the entertainment content business, which includes games, sales were 116.6 billion yen, up year-over-year, and operating income was 13.8 billion yen, down year-over-year.

It’s worth noting that Sega continues to forecast growth in sales and operating profit for the entire fiscal year.

We heard that full game sales (both new and re-releases) were slightly lower than expected, while free-to-play sales were strong.

However, Sega plans to sell a lot of new games during the rest of the fiscal year, which explains the positive outlook across the board.

Below you can see all relevant results, including sales dynamics for both full games and free-to-play games.
