Support for FSR 2.0 in the Xbox Series X/S Development Kits since June has allowed Ebb Software to use this scaling technology since the launch of Scorn. Therefore, Digital Foundry took the opportunity to test the console version of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.
Tests conducted by experts from the Digital Foundry team show great potential, guaranteed by the implementation on consoles of these technologies, already widely appreciated in PC gaming. According to Digital Foundry editors, FSR 2.0 allows Xbox Series X users to enjoy a visual experience completely comparable to what Scorn offers on PC in 4K with graphics presets set to maximum. The smaller sister Xbox Series S also performs well, maintaining 60fps at 1080p with Temporal Anti Aliasing enabled.
Could the use of technologies like FSR 2 prevent the return of 30fps in PS5 and Xbox Series X games that Digital Foundry’s Richard Leadbetter recently predicted?
