Rumor: Besides Black Panther game, EA is working on another Marvel-related game

Video game publisher Electronic Arts is reportedly collaborating with Marvel Games to create several projects related to the rich universe of comics and films. New details came out yesterday related to a Black Panther game that is said to be in development at EA’s new studio. And while this game is still in the early stages of development, it’s supposedly not the only Marvel-related game EA is working on.

According to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, EA is working on another Marvel-related game that isn’t Black Panther-related. He heard that EA is working on another comic book project. However, he didn’t add anything specific about the game, such as the character, the superhero team, or the genre it might be centered on.

Based on his own speculation, Grubb believes that EA has most likely struck a deal with Marvel similar to the one Square Enix previously made. As part of its partnership with Marvel Games, Square has released games such as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel’s Avengers. However, after the release of these games, Square sold both the studios that created each of them, which means that the Japanese publisher has most likely stopped working with Marvel for now.

It should also be noted that in the last month we’ve heard similar rumors before, which talked about a collaboration between Marvel and EA. One of those posts even suggested that EA might be working on a fighting game set in the Marvel Universe. While there is no guarantee that such a project will come to fruition, Marvel certainly has an extensive history in the fighting game scene, which makes a return to the genre quite plausible.
