Quentin Tarantino was delighted with the film “Top Gun: Maverick”

Director Quentin Tarantino was delighted with the sequel to “Top Gun”. In his opinion, the picture pays tribute to director Tony Scott in almost every frame.

“I really enjoyed Top Gun: Maverick. I think it’s an amazing movie. It’s like Spielberg’s West Side Story, it’s a real cinematic experience. I didn’t expect to see that. It’s a wonderful movie,” the director said during the ReelBlend podcast.

He said he saw the movie in the cinema and recalled his conversation with Tom Cruise before that, during which he expressed doubts that it was possible to make a good sequel without Tony Scott. However, he has to admit that “Top Gun: Maverick” treated the director’s legacy very respectfully. “I love Tony Scott’s work so much and loved him very much. “Top Gun: Maverick” is so close to the film that he could have made. The respect and love towards Tony was in every frame. It was done deliberately and I think , Tom was behind every decision like that,” Quentin Tarantino opened up.

It was previously reported that Tom Cruise will receive more than $ 100 million for the film.

Maverick is directed by Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion, Tron: Legacy). Cast: Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”, “Good Omens”), Jennifer Connelly (“Requiem for a Dream”), Val Kilmer (“Fight”), Ed Harris (“Westworld”), Miles Teller (“Too Old to die young”).

Note that in the 1994 rom-com “Sleep with Me” directed by Rory Kelly, Quentin appears in a cameo and for several minutes ironically and in detail argues that the original “Top Gun” in 1986 is a film about homosexuals. It is interesting in the light of the above, whether he considers the newest sequel from the same positions.
