Phison PS5025-E25 – new top controller for gaming SSDs with PCI-E 4.0 interface

Phison recently demonstrated a controller PS5026-E26, designed for SSD with PCI-E 5.0 interface. However, the PCI-E 4.0 SSD segment will not remain without new products either. For flagship PCI-E 4.0 drives, the company will release the PS5025-E25 controller in the near future, some details of which were revealed in the latest investor report.

The PS5025-E25 is an advanced controller designed for high-end drives. The company does not disclose the number of cores and channels for working with memory, but promises read and write speeds up to 7.2 GB / s. The PS5025-E25 uses 4 lanes of PCI-E 4.0 and works with an external DRAM buffer – that’s all the details.

In addition, Phison briefly mentions another controller – PS5020-E20. It also works with the PCI-E 4.0 x4 interface, but is designed for server-class solutions and supports up to 32 TB of memory.
