Square Enix is set to release Star Ocean: The Divine Force and Valkyrie Elysium in the fall, and Japan will get fancy collector’s editions. Both games have Square Enix e-Store Collector’s Editions that we likely won’t get in the west, and two trailers have been released showing them off.
Star Ocean: The Divine Force will cost 18,000 yen and will include the game, an 80-page art book, a 5-CD soundtrack, two rubber keyrings, an art card with stand, a special box, and a bunch of digital bonuses.
The Valkyrie Elysium edition will cost 19,980 yen and will include the game, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth download code, 80-page art book, 236-page script book, mini soundtrack, two acrylic stands and a stand, packed in a special box.
Both editions are only available for PS5 and PS4.
Unfortunately, this is a fairly common situation. Japanese gamers are still very fond of physical games, and fancy collector’s editions are a favorite practice in the country that is unlikely to disappear anytime soon, even for relatively small releases. Therefore, we are left to either import these editions, or be content with watching from afar or in the trailers below.
Valkyrie Elysium releases September 29, 2022 for PS5 and PS4. PC players on Steam will have to wait a little longer as the game will be available on the Valve marketplace on November 11, 2022.
Star Ocean: The Divine Force releases worldwide on October 27 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
