Meet the demon Baal in the latest trailer for Soul Hackers 2

Atlus has released another of their daily trailers for the upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2, focusing on one of the demons that will be featured in the game.

This time we get a glimpse of Baal, a demon that has been in the Shin Megami Tensei series almost forever and also appeared in the recent Shin Megami Tensei V.

Baal is a West Semitic title meaning “Master” or “Lord”. While it can actually refer to a large number of different deities, Baal in this case refers to Hadad, the Canaanite and Syrian god of rain, fertility, life, agriculture, and thunder, especially popular in Ugarit and Aleppo. He was worshiped in many ancient Near Eastern communities who regarded him as one of the most important gods in their local pantheons. He, at least in part, descended from the Sumerian god Ishkur, but their character was significantly different; while Ishkur personified the destructive power of storms, the West Semitic Baal was the master of the life-giving rains vital to the farmers.

As with most daily trailers, we also get a daily horoscope with Aquarius at the top of the luck rankings and Cancer at the bottom.

Soul Hackers 2 will release for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam and Windows Store) on August 26th, just a day after the Japanese launch on August 25th.
