    Kingston Expands DataTraveler Max USB 3.2 Gen 2 Lineup with Type-A Option



    In recent years, the USB Type-C interface has become much more popular. Therefore, Kingston initially released USB DataTraveler Max in Type-C variant. Now DataTraveler Max Type-A has been added to them.

    Both Type A and Type C are promoted by Kingston as next-generation high-performance flash drives with USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectivity. The DataTraveler Max line promises read speeds up to 1,000 MB/s and write speeds up to 900 MB/s. Flash drives are available in capacities of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. Kingston Digital uses a rugged case with a strap hole and retractable plug. There is a status LED.


    While USB Type-C flash drives were only available in black, the DataTraveler Max Type-A is available in black and burgundy. Due to the Type A plug, the dimensions of the drive had to be increased to 91.17 x 22.00 x 9.02 mm (Type-C variant: 82.17 x 22.00 x 9.02 mm), the weight is now 14 g instead of 12 d. Declared operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C. Flash drives can be stored over a wider range from -20°C to 85°C. Kingston gives a five year warranty.

    Type C flash drives can be purchased from 4.100 ₽ for 256 GB, 8.100 ₽ for 512 GB, 11.100 ₽ for 1 TB. DataTraveler Max Type-A has not yet appeared in Russia, in Europe you will have to pay €51 for the 256 GB version, €80 for the 512 GB, and €137 for the 1 TB.
