Jason Schreier: “Keep your expectations in check. Eidos Montreal are now operating on a brand new IP”

Yesterday, August 5, during a podcast, Jeff Grubb said that the Eidos Montreal studio, which once gave players Human Revolution and Mankind Divided, would like to return to the Deus Ex series again and “do what Cyberpunk 2077 could not”.

Information about a possible new part of Deus Ex quickly spread on the Internet, causing a storm in the gaming community, but well-known journalist Jason Schreier urged users to hold their expectations:

Keep your expectations under control. The game currently in development at Eidos Montreal is a new IP. If they release a new Deus Ex, it will be for a very, very long time.

The acquisition of Square Enix by Embracer was completed in May of this year. The press release confirmed that the holding “entered into an agreement to acquire Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montréal, Square Enix Montréal studios and a catalog of games, including Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kain and more than 50 games from the Square Enix Holdings LTD catalog” . According to Embracer Group, the total purchase price is US$300 million.

The first Deus-Ex was released in 2000, and the latest installment, Mankind Divided, was released in 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
