Wizards of the Coast announced the creation of Skeleton Key, a new studio based in Austin, Texas. The studio will be led by former Dragon Age executive producer Christian Daly, who is currently working on a new AAA video game project.
Until February of this year, Christian Daley was an executive producer on the Dragon Age franchise at EA, where he supposedly oversaw the development of what we now know to be Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. After leaving the studio and declaring that Dragon Age is in “great hands”, Daley appears to have landed at Wizards of the Coast, where he now heads up a new studio for the board game giant. Skeleton Key is based in Austin, Texas and is currently recruiting for an as yet unannounced AAA project, according to a newly created official website.
Skeleton Key is Wizards of the Coast’s sixth video game development studio in North America. It’s also not the first game development studio Wizards has opened in Austin with staff from BioWare; Wizards previously founded Archetype Entertainment in 2019 with former BioWare creative director James Ohlen at the helm and Drew Karpyshyn (Mass Effect) as lead writer.
Other Wizards North American game development studios include Atomic Arcade in Raleigh, NC, which was founded last year and is currently working on the GI Joe game; Tuque Games (Dark Alliance) in Montreal; and two unnamed locations in Washington state.
