Work on the fourth and fifth seasons of the series “The Witcher” from Netflix began not so long ago. However, in light of Henry Cavill’s recent announcement, one can be sure that the next episodes of the series will not be the same.
The departure of the actor who played the role of Geralt of Rivia and his replacement by Liam Hemsworth did not please many fans. So much so that the network has already appeared petition with a request to return the actor to the project.
At the time of this writing, 1258 people have signed it. The description, created by Stefan Mandred, says the following:
“Andrzej Sapkowski himself said about Henry Cavill: “I was more than pleased with the appearance of Henry Cavill in the role of the Witcher, he is a real professional. As Viggo Mortensen gave his face to Aragorn, so Henry gave his to Geralt, and always will.”
Henry is not leaving The Witcher because of Superman, the management of Netflix has once again made a serious decision that is contrary to the interests of its fans. The reason for the popularity of The Witcher series lies in the fans’ love for primary sources – books and games that are hated and actively ridiculed by the writers and showrunner. Henry Cavill is one of those big fans, he knows it all inside out and wanted to stay true to Sapkowski’s world, which is why Netflix wants to replace him.
Let’s show them in pure numbers (and therefore lost money, because that’s all they really care about) that none of us Witcher fans will support them and cancel the series (and possibly the subscription) after the end of the third season of The Witcher.
We’ve already experienced the disaster that was the end of Game of Thrones – NETFLIX don’t repeat the same mistake of holding on to writers and showrunners who think they’re superior to the actual storytellers who brought them success.”
It can be expected that the petition will become more popular in the near future. There are a lot of negative comments online about this whole affair, and calls for showrunners to resign are getting more and more popular.
