Developed by Finnish company Kitka Games, Stumble Guys actually hit the market a few months after Fall Guys was released for PS4 and PC in August 2020, with a global launch in January 2021. While the game enjoyed moderate success last year, it has really taken off in recent months, according to analytics agency AppMagic.
Stumble Guys, which has been downloaded over 163 million times since launch and earned $21.5 million, is also currently in the top ten of the Google Play download charts in the US and UK.
Like Fall Guys, the multiplayer knockout game has players compete through a series of colorful obstacle courses until one person is left, and it also includes a range of customization options.
The PC version of Stumble Guys was also released in October 2021 and its developer claims the game attracts 18 million daily players. In June, Stumble Guys was reportedly downloaded 32.8 million times, generating US$6.6 million.
Downloads peaked on June 25, when 1.5 million players downloaded the game in one day. Stumble Guys’ daily downloads peaked just four days after Fall Guys went free-to-play last month.
On June 21, Fall Guys also launched for the first time on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and the Epic Games Store. The PC version has also been removed from sale on Steam, although existing owners will continue to receive full support.
Fall Guys developer Mediatonic recently announced that the chaotic battle royale hit 50 million players within two weeks of its free-to-play release. Mediatonic has not announced plans to release a mobile version of the game.
