DxOMark website specialized in professional smartphone lens and camera tests, published ranking of the best new gadgets in terms of shooting. The winner was the flagship device of the Chinese company Huawei called Mate 50 Pro.
The Huawei Mate 50 line of smartphones debuted in September 2022. The devices are equipped with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 camera with optical image stabilization and a variable aperture lens. Plus, there is a 64MP sensor and a 13MP macro sensor with a wide-angle lens. A 13-megapixel camera with a 3D depth sensor is responsible for selfies.
Based on the results of DxOMark tests, the new Huawei Mate 50 Pro received 149 points. Experts noted high image detail, a wide dynamic range for stills and videos, a large depth of field in group shots with good lighting, fast and accurate auto focus, and a pleasant “bokeh effect” (image blur out of focus of the lens).
The disadvantages of the gadget, the experts attributed the difference in sharpness between frames when shooting video, the difference between the preview and final shots is not in favor of the latter, as well as a slight distortion of the white balance in a number of photos.
As for other smartphones, in addition to the new flagship Huawei, the top five were: Honor Magic4 Ultimate and Google Pixel 7 Pro (147 points each), as well as iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max (146 points each).
