Exoprimal is Capcom’s worst major game in 2023

The online shooter Exoprimal, based on shooting a large number of dinosaurs, gained about 4.5 thousand players during the launch period on Steam. This is the worst result for Capcom in 2023, at least among major games, which has so far been able to count on excellent results for its latest games.

Launched on July 14, 2023, Exoprimal peaked at 4,522 concurrent players. This figure was fixed by the usual SteamDB, which is very reliable in this matter.

As we said, Exoprimal was worse than almost all other major Capcom releases of 2023, losing even to Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Vol. 1 (peak – 7,843 concurrent players). Only Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Vol. 2 (peak – 2,703 players) and Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (peak – 1,474 players) showed a more modest result, but these are two small projects of a Japanese publisher.

This is no match for other major releases, with Resident Evil 4 Remake hitting 168,000 concurrent players and Street Fighter 6 hitting 70,500.

Considering Exoprimal is a big-budget game with live service ambitions, it’s likely that Capcom expected a lot more at launch. It’s worth noting that the game is also available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but the PC figure is still very low, especially when viewed in perspective.
