Enthusiast spent six years remastering canceled Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans

Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans is an adventure game canceled by Blizzard in 1998. A few years ago, the still unreleased point-and-click adventure game Warcraft was leaked online. Although the game was fully playable at the time, its cutscenes were of poor quality, heavily compressed, not perfectly in sync with audio, and some were simply missing. Now, after several years of work on it, someone has remastered all the cutscenes, corrected them and made it easier to get to know this game.

Modder DerSilver83 recently released the final version 1.0 of WACRP (Warcraft Adventures Cutscene Remastered Project). The mod contains 20 fully remastered cutscenes, including two that weren’t actually in the original leak but came later through another leak.

You can see an example of what this mod and its improved cutscenes look like in the video below:

According to the modder and the project’s website, a lot of work went into this release. Apparently, DerSilver83 manually removed all compression artifacts from all videos. The modder also used Photoshop to painstakingly redraw entire frames and assets, frame by frame. Continuity issues have also been fixed, and some new transition scenes have been created entirely from scratch. All audio has also been synced and everything is now running at the correct 12fps.

All in all, DerSilver83 says he’s been working on this mod for about six years, and this latest 1.0 release represents the project’s finale. In a message dated July 31, he explained that he did his best in what he called “reasonable time” and was pleased with the end result.

I want to remember this project as something fun before it becomes a burden. So that’s it. The final release of my Cutscene Remaster Project and I hope everyone who uses it will enjoy it as much as I did. I’ve always wanted to create an essential mod for a game I love, and I can finally say that I’ve achieved it (or at least tried).

In order to actually play it, you need to search the internet for the right files needed for a full game, as this mod contains only updated cutscenes and nothing else.
