A new version of the Elite Mod project, one of the most popular modifications for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Retribution, has been released.
New version of the mod (2.9.8.3) mainly focused on fixing bugs. First of all, every effort was made to keep framerates from reaching extremely high levels (which shouldn’t be surprising on modern PCs, since Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Retribution is eleven years old), which caused severe audio interruption issues.
Elite Mod is a project aimed at improving the multiplayer gameplay. Initially, the authors focused only on improving the balance and fixing bugs, but after the publisher of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Retribution, THQ, stopped development of the second part of the series, modders began to make much more ambitious changes.
Today’s Elite Mod is a major overhaul of the multiplayer mode. All factions have received many additional units, and the developers have also introduced one new army in the form of the so-called Gray Knights, an order of Space Marines that focuses on the use of psionic abilities.
Elite Mod is currently the most important multiplayer mod for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Retribution. It has a large and very active community that organizes various tournaments and events.
