European powerhouse Team Secret won the DreamLeague Major last weekend. The team surrounding captain Puppey has displayed high quality Dota throughout the entire event, culminating in a one-sided best-of-five finals in which they dominated TI7 champions Team Liquid 3-0. This is the first LAN title for the current Secret roster and in fact the first LAN victory for Ace and YapzOr and only the second LAN victory for MidOne.

8 Direct Invites to ESL One Genting Revealed

Seven more teams will be determined over the course of several regional qualifiers, with two spots dedicated to the Chinese region. There will be a ninth invite, though there are no details surrounding the invite. The qualifiers will have two stages, with more established teams directly invited to the second stage.

Earlier this week, community figure Wykrhm Reddy confirmed the cancellation of three Pro Circuit events. GESC, a South-East Asian tournament organizer, had scheduled to host two Minors in early 2018, but according to a statement on their website those Minors “will not take place on their originally scheduled dates”. While the events may still occur later in the year, it seems unlikely that they will be part of the Pro Circuit. A third, unrelated event, details of which have not been announced thus far, was also cancelled.

    Tournament Overview:

  • The MDL Macau Minor is underway and day 1 is over. Nine teams fight for a spot in the semi-finals in a massive round robin bo1 group stage. TNC finished day 1 undefeated and OG & EHOME take 3 wins each as well. Infamous is currently at the bottom of the group with a 0-3 record, followed closely by LGD who are 1-3. It’s worth noting that VGJ.Storm and Virtus.pro are both using stand-ins. Kpii is replacing ritsu and VP are using their coach Artstyle for the time being, as solo has taken the rest of the year off.
  • The ROG Masters have also finished day 1 and Execration and Team MAX have already been eliminated, only Optic Gaming, PENTA Sports, Team Empire and WG.Unity remain.
