    Liquid and coL first teams to secure QP

    The competitive Dota 2 season officially kicked off with its first LAN event this week, as eight teams clash in Kiev to secure the first Qualifying Points of the season. TI7 champions, while likely a secure invite as title defender anyway, Team Liquid topped group A of the StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 3, securing a top 4 finish and a minimum of 30 Qualifying Points. In group B, North American representative compLexity Gaming succeeded over both Newbee and Na’Vi to take the first place and a spot in the playoffs, as well as 30 QP. The remaining two teams for the playoffs will be determined over the course of this weekend.

    Infamous take DC.SA’s spot at PGL Minor

    As Digital Chaos’ South American squad disbanded last week, PGL was forced to hold a tiebreaker between Infamous U.esports. and SG e-sports team. Infamous emerged victorious with a 3-1 sweep, thus qualifying for their second LAN event of the season.

    The first Major of the season is just two weeks away and ESL have presented the broadcasting talent that will cover the event. Among ESL event regulars, such as Redeye, TobiWan, DotaCapitalist, Merlini, Blitz and syndereN, Nahaz, ODPixel and Sheever will join the frey. Lastly, OJBorg, a dedicated ESL stage host, known for his appearances at ESL CS:GO events, will assist the broadcast from the stage.

    Tournament Overview:

  • The StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 3 LAN finals, the first ever Dota 2 Minor, are taking place this weekend. Team Liquid took first place in group A with 2-0 wins over Mineski and SG e-Sports. Complexity Gaming took first place in group B with victories over Newbee (2-0) and Natus Vincere (2-1).
  • The PGL Open Bucharest, the second Minor of this season, will is set to begin on the 19th. Evil Geniuses, LGD-Gaming, Immortals, Infamous, Team Secret, Natus Vincere, Mineski and VGJ.Thunder will fight for the lions share of $300,000 and 300QP.
  • Team Empire won the ASUS ROG Masters EMEA LAN finals, taking down GangSquad 2-0. Both teams have qualified for the global LAN finals.
