Dota 2 – The Weekly CourierChongqing Major Enters Its Final Days, Stockholm Major Qualifier Teams Announced, and Team Tigers Shuffles Roster

Chongqing Major Enters Its Final Days

After just one day of the playoffs, Virtus.Pro has already secured themselves a TI9 invite based on their KL Major victory and their guaranteed top 6 finish at the Chongqing Major. Team Liquid came strong out of the group stages, but fell 0-2 to Team Secret. To make matters worse, vpesports reported that Liquid’s emergency stand-in, shadow, is battling food poisoning.

Day 2 will kickoff the best of one elimination matches and two feature upper bracket matches: VP vs. PSG.LGD and EHOME vs. Secret. We’ll be keeping track of the games and stats on our esports hub, as well as following up with a meta recap after the event on the blog.

DreamHack Announces Invites to Stockholm Major Qualifiers

Here’s the teams who are invited to the CORSAIR #DreamLeagueMajor closed qualifiers.

DreamHackannounced the invited teams to Stockholm Major qualifiers this week. Russian caster v1lat, voiced his protest about the omission of Na’Vi in the CIS group, but it appears that the invites are weighed more towards recent success, as Pavaga recently won the Loot.BET Winter Masters tournament.

The open qualifiers for the Stockholm Major does begin in the final days of the Chongqing Major, but the invited list includes the current teams competing. It’ll still be a quick turnaround for teams at Chongqing, with only four days to prep and reset for the closed qualifiers.

    Team Tigers Reshuffles

Earlier this week Team Tigers announced that they’ve parted ways with Ahjit and inYourdreaM. The team showed some promise in their championship run at the Dreamleague Minor, which qualified them for the Kuala Lumpur Major. But during the Major they faced stiff competition in the group against PSG.LGD and Fnatic, and fell to the lower bracket, where pain X eliminated them in a best of one series. They’ve since announced one new addition to their team, Mushi. Tigers will most likely be announcing their 5th player soon, right in time for the Stockholm Major open qualifiers.
