Former Bungie developers who worked on Halo Infinite are working on a new, original FPS game powered by Unreal Engine 5. Certain Affinity has worked on games from franchises such as Halo, Doom and Call of Duty, and now it looks like the team is preparing their own original game .
As @IdleSloth84 pointed out on Twitter, Certain Affinity is working on a “new, original IP,” according to some LinkedIn pages. What’s more, there’s also a job posting for the position of game director for this new IP with more details. The game is “original IP first-person shooter” and “games as a service” – which, given the team’s experience in multiplayer games such as Destiny and Halo Infinite, is not too much of a surprise.
“We are best known for co-development of numerous AAA shooters,” the announcement reads, “but now we are creating exciting new games ourselves.” As for Unreal Engine 5, the bottom of the announcement also asks for “have UE4 and/or UE5 development experience”.
In addition to working on “exciting” new content for Halo Infinite, perhaps even a possible battle royale-style mode, Certain Affinity is also rumored to be helping develop Microsoft’s stalled Perfect Dark reboot. The studio has previously helped develop multiplayer for Doom, as well as several Call of Duty and Halo games, so it will be interesting to see what Certain Affinity’s first original IP looks like.
