The popularity of Cyberpunk 2077 is a story of ups and downs. Shortly after release, the game hit a record 1,054,388 concurrent playthroughs, but that number quickly dwindled after players rightly complained about numerous bugs, resulting in the game receiving more and more negative reviews. However, that was 2.5 years ago. During this time, CD Projekt RED has released a lot of patches that improve gameplay and add new content to the game. As a result, Cyberpunk managed to overcome an important barrier on Steam.
At the end of October 2022, I reported that after the release of the Edgerunners series and patch 1.6, Cyberpunk 2077 boasted up to 90% positive reviews over the past 30 days. Now the game has overcome another barrier, namely received a “very positive” rating on Steam in the context of all the reviews posted, of which already 80% are positive.

It should be noted that this is not the result of any recently released patch, as the last major update came out on April 11 and introduced Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode (only owners of Nvidia 40-series and RTX 3090 graphics cards can use it). Thus, it can be argued with a fair degree of certainty that the growing popularity of the game is due to the fact that at the moment it is a model of a good game.
It is also possible that a growing number of people are attracted to the game by the fact that the Phantom Liberty expansion debuts on September 26, and also that the game was recently available at a reduced price. Finally, the DLC will arrive on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
