Blizzard’s quarterly revenue tops $1 billion for first time in studio history

After leaving Diablo 4 Blizzard Entertainment’s revenue for the second quarter of 2023 exceeded $1 billion. For the studio, this was a record result in its history.

The success of the ARPG also allowed Blizzard to overtake Activision in revenue for the first time since 2019. In the last quarter, Activision generated 24% of revenue, Blizzard accounted for 44% of revenue, and the remaining 31% came from mobile developer King.

By June 13, Diablo 4 had earned $666 million, making it the most successful Blizzard game in the studio’s history. On July 20, the game released the first season, which the players criticized by lowering the ARPG score on the Metacritic website to 2 points. The developers have already promised that they will no longer allow the release of patches with class weakening and slow progression.
