Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s Missed Opportunity for Batman
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has finally hit the shelves, and avid fans of the much-loved Batman: Arkham Knight have been eagerly awaiting its release. Unfortunately, this game does not deliver the appropriate sendoff for Rocksteady’s Dark Knight. Join IG as they dissect why Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League falls short in giving Batman the farewell he deserves.
The Missed Opportunity of the Gameplay
In the previous Arkham games, players were immersed in the role of Batman, soaring through the skies of Gotham City and unleashing his full arsenal of gadgets. In Suicide Squad, the script is flipped, and the players take on the role of the criminals, with Batman as the enemy. While this setup promised a thrilling Batman boss battle, the game fails to deliver. The encounters with Batman are tedious and lack the nerve-wracking essence of fighting the Caped Crusader. The boss battle against Batman is repetitive and lacks the thrilling action expected, ultimately falling short of capturing the fear of fighting the Ultimate Ninja Warrior.
The Unfulfilling End for Rocksteady’s Batman
The game gives Rocksteady’s Batman a disappointing final sendoff, essentially cheapening the memory of a character beloved by fans. While the game is set in the Arkham Canon, it transforms Batman into a brainwashed killer, disregarding the legacy of the Arkham games. This does not do justice to the poignant and complex portrayal of Batman in the Arkham Trilogy, leaving fans feeling unsatisfied with the character’s conclusion.
A Silver Lining
Despite Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s shortcomings, it’s not the end of the road for Kevin Conroy’s Batman. IG has learned that Conroy will reprise his role in the animated movie, “Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Three.” This gives hope that Conroy’s Batman will receive the appropriate sendoff he deserves.
In the end, while Suicide Squad may not have succeeded in delivering the ending fans desired for Rocksteady’s Batman, there’s still hope for the beloved character in future projects.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League may not have done right by Batman, but there’s always the chance for redemption down the line.
