Assetto Corsa Competizione to add GT2 cars to racing game

During SRO Motorsports’ annual press conference in Belgium last Friday, Assetto Corsa Competizione’s future plans were announced ahead of schedule.

During an esports conference, SRO Motorsports Group Founder and CEO Stefan Ratel mentioned that he was happy because he heard that the people at Kunos Simulazioni were going to add GT2 cars.

About 15 minutes later, Kunos co-founder Marco Massarutto took the stage to talk about the journey that Assetto Corsa Competizione has traveled over the past four years. It has been announced that the game will support the 2023 SRO Fanatec GT World Challenge season with liveries and new cars: Ferrari 296 GT3, Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), Lamborghini Huracan Evo2 will be added next spring.

Marco then responded to Stefan’s earlier comment by saying that the decision to include GT2 was only made yesterday, so “this is not a story that needs to be told today.” He then stated that the announcement of the new Maserati MC20 GT2 influenced the decision to include it in the game.

Marco also said that the upcoming DLC with GT2 cars could be the last, after which they will focus on the development of Assetto Corsa 2, which will be released in 2024.
