The Mortal Kombat franchise has a rich history of development that includes dozens of games, movies, comics and cartoons. In this truly huge universe, many strong fighters are represented, including the beautiful weaker sex. An enthusiast with the nickname UncannyCarlos decided to show in one video the history of the development of female characters in the Mortal Kombat series.
As you can see from the video, female characters appeared in Mortal Kombat with the release of the first part in 1992. While many activists are demanding more females in modern games, the fighting game series regularly included girls of different looks and races in their projects.
In total, for all parts, the developers managed to present about 20 female characters. The most popular heroines were Kitana, Sonya Blade and Milina. They were present in most games in the franchise and will return again in the new Mortal Kombat 1, but with a changed origin story.
Mortal Kombat 1 may introduce even more new female characters. We will be able to find out after the release of the fighting game, which is scheduled for release on September 19 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
