Yesterday, Sony and SIE Santa Monica finally revealed the news regarding God of War Ragnarok, confirming a November release for PS4 and PS5. Her various editions, including the impressive Collector’s Edition and the Jotnar Edition, have also been showcased with pre-orders starting July 15th.
While the November release was reportedly well-scheduled, some people may be concerned about the timing. As G4TV host Indiana Black tweeted:
“I feel like God of War’s November release date is because they want to get into the holiday quarter, and maybe not because that’s a reasonable launch date. I hope there will be no crises and everything will go according to plan.”
In response, producer Corey Barlog said:
“We thought a lot about which date is best and chose the best date for the team, the game and the fans.”
Sony has been open about the team’s health in the past. After the first transfer, the head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst said that the publisher would not jeopardize “the quality of our games” or “the health or well-being of our wonderful team“.
This was during the COVID-19 pandemic, but it can be assumed that this extends to things like recycling. Of course, SIE Santa Monica was also very supportive of actor Christopher Judge, who had to undergo knee and back surgery along with a hip replacement.
God of War Ragnarok releases November 9th for PS4 and PS5.
