The Hitman and L.A Noire Goat Simulator 3 DLC That Never Happened

Goat Simulator has always been known for its wacky and outrageous gameplay, spoofing popular video game franchises in the process. However, not every crazy idea that the developers came up with made it into the final game. In a recent interview with the lead producer and art director of Goat Simulator 3 at Coffee Stain North, we got an exclusive look at some of the unreleased DLC gameplay ideas based on Hitman and L.A Noire.

A Look Behind the Scenes

The developers at Coffee Stain North regularly run game jams where their team can come up with any idea, no matter how absurd, to potentially be included in the game. This led to the inception of DLC concepts inspired by popular game series like Hitman and LA Noir. The challenge was to find a way to incorporate the quirky goat gameplay of Goat Simulator into these new ideas while still staying true to the essence of the original game.

Exploring New Gameplay Ideas

One of the discarded ideas, known internally as “Goat 55,” involved implementing Hitman’s social stealth mechanics into the world of pilgor, where players could hide bodies, change outfits, and infiltrate locations. Another intriguing concept was “Detective Pilgor,” a murder mystery detective story reminiscent of Rockstar Games’ LA Noire, featuring interrogation sequences and a mystery to solve.

Despite the small amount of time spent on these ideas during the game jams, they showed a surprising level of completion and creativity. The developers also experimented with a Dance Dance Revolution-inspired rhythm game and a mythology-based concept that involved a head with a beard.

The Creative Process

While these DLC ideas never made it into the final game, the developers emphasized that nothing is definitive. Should there be enough player demand, they might revisit these concepts in the future. The Goat Simulator series has always been built on the foundation of game jams and improvisation, allowing the best and most absurd ideas to come to life.

Since 2014, Coffee Stain has continued to push the boundaries of what Goat Simulator can deliver, putting pilgor in even crazier scenarios. The success of the series over the past decade has been a pleasant surprise for the developers, who never expected dedicating their lives to goats would lead to such creativity and variety.

Despite the unexplored DLC ideas, Goat Simulator remains a beacon of creativity and innovation in the gaming industry. The developers’ willingness to experiment and try out new ideas has been a significant factor in the game’s enduring popularity.

And remember, there’s always more to discover in the world of Goat Simulator. Who knows what crazy ideas the future may hold?
